I’ve been riding the 2024/2025 YES PYL UNINC DCP XTRM this season as my powder, freeride deck and had a blast on it. It’s definitely on the stiffer side, which delivers great stability at speed and in choppy terrain. Honestly, it feels like there’s no speed limit on this thing. The overall rigidity carries through to the torsional flex but still has enough give to be dynamic when needed.

The large amount of taper is very noticeable and gives the board a surfy feel — you can swivel the tail around easily on steeps, in trees, or when slashing powder. The coreless tail adds to that feel by softening the tail flex just slightly. The small amount of rocker in the nose and tail contributes to this surfy feel and helps the board float in deeper snow as well as skim over bumps rather than plow through them.

I rode this board on at least four deep powder days, and it didn’t disappoint. The narrower, shorter tail sinks into the snow and lets the nose rise for easy float and glide. Powder is where that surfy tail feels most at home — you can slash and turn with surprising ease for how stiff the board is. And when you add speed, the board’s true colors show as jumping off rocks, stomping landings, nose buttering, and spinning off cat tracks all feel effortless and mandatory.

The camber and tapered underbite work together for excellent edge hold. I always feel locked into my turns on hardpack and icy terrain. You can feel the “bumps” on the edges — part of the tapered underbite — grabbing the snow. It took a minute to fine-tune this with my stance, but once I adjusted my setup to put those contact points in my preferred spot, it felt much more predictable when the board would engage those contact points on turns.

The pop on this board stands out as well. The stiff flex and camber boost you off side-hits, rollers, and drops. While the slight tail rocker helps you engage the snap more easily. When carving on hardpack, if you keep your weight firmly on the front foot, you’ll get those pencil-thin carving lines, as the tail tends to want to “swivel” or “wash out” if you have too much weight on your back foot. That’s due to the board’s taper and sidecut variation, which makes sense given its surfy ride style. But once you lean into that front foot, the board locks into a turn and gets up on edge at speed with confidence. Carving felt so precise and stable that I even used this board in a banked slalom race last year.

Landing and riding switch was easier than I expected. Sure, it’s noticeable having the larger nose behind you, but the twinish shape and slight rocker profile make it doable for shorter switch runs. The main issue is the extra effort it takes to get weight onto the nose while riding switch. You can mitigate that by moving your stance more centered, instead of set back, depending on how much switch riding you plan to do.

I’d describe this board as a surfy freeride board with a freestyle spirit. It can carve, charge, and float in powder, and when you get it up to speed, you can’t resist the urge to jump and spin. I’d recommend it to advanced riders and up, looking for a slightly playful freeride powder board — something to take out on deep days but still have fun on when the snow gets tracked out.

I wouldn’t recommend it to riders who just want to cruise, as they likely won’t enjoy the effort needed for the stiffer flex. Same goes for freestyle-focused riders, as I think it’ll feel a bit too directional.
